Having taken Exploring Teaching
and Learning I feel that I better understand the way people learn and therefore am equipped with knowing more effective ways
to teach.
By assessing how I personally learn I was able to acknowledge
that all people learn differently and must be accomodated. I plan to do this by offering information in a variety of ways
that appeal to different styles of learning. I have also learned to consider more deeply the many factors that impact the
learning process which are outside of the students, or teachers, control. This knowledge will help me make further accomodations
for my students to optimize learning.
This class has shown me that there are many different teaching
practices which can be used. Although I personally prefer learning by direct instruction, I prefer to teach with hands-on
instruction; I feel this is also the best way for students, especially those who are young, to learn. I plan to incorporate
the many types of teaching into my instruction as I feel that all syles have merit in the proper setting.
I hope to use the knowledge I've acquired to make my classroom
teh most nourishing environment for enriching students minds. The knowledge of how people learn and how to teach to those
strengths will greatly aid me in my pursuit to be a productive teacher.
