How have I learned in school and how do I learn most effectively?
I have discovered that I learn best when I am by myself and have time to sit down and focus. I prefer a quiet environment.
I learn better when I have an organized approach to learning or studying; structure is important to me. I also prefer to review
information by reading it, writing it, and then reviewing it.
How has my learning changed over time; why?
Over time I have been able to reflect on how I learn and assess, via my grades, whether or not my methods have been effective.
The most important change I’ve made is to take fewer notes. I used to write down and study too much information
and the important information would be lost.
How will this knowledge affect me as a teacher?
Although I believe that all students need structure, I realize that my level of organization is probably overwhelming
to many. In knowing how I learn I am able to provide students with the option of having a structured, organized system and
environment or having a more laid back, comfortable approach. As long as students are learning I am willing to give up some
structure in return for some relaxed but productive learning.
